Cultural Adornment and Wearable Art Award

Worn items that are created as fine or expressive art and that are used to define or express culture.

Prize
Includes $5000 cash, plus the opportunity for the piece to be acquired for a public institution

Judging Criteria

  • Cultural advancement and expression
  • Quality of construction
  • Environmental and social contribution
  • Wearability and/or performance potential

Fashion Design Award

A commercial fashion label with a minimum of 2 collections of original design of clothing, jewellery or accessories.

Prize
Includes industry mentorship and business support with a major Australian fashion company, travel within Australia to workshops and mentor sessions, 1 year membership to the Australian Fashion Council, and the opportunity for a capsule collection in a retail store.

Textile Design Award

Includes designs of woven, knitted or other textile constructions as well as dyed, printed or surface ornamented textiles.

Prize
Includes technical and design training either in community, at place of work, in an education institution, industry organisation, or a combination of these.  Includes an allowance for travel and materials.

Community Collaboration Award

Recognition of effective and productive relationships between Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities and the textile and fashion industry.

Prize
Includes tickets to a major textile or fashion event with a travel allowance of $5,000 and an editorial in a major fashion publication.

Environmental and Social Contribution Award

Excellence and leadership in environmental and social development understanding, and practice in relation to textiles and fashion.

Prize to include two tickets to the Copenhagen Fashion Summit with a travel allowance of $5,000.

  • Impact on community and society

  • Consideration of ethics pertaining to cultural safety, social impacts and fair trade

  • Understanding of environmental and/or social practice

  • Alignment with the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals

  • Innovation

  • Leadership

Special Recognition Award

For a group, organisation, or individual that has shown exceptional contribution to the development of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander textiles and fashion. 

Prize of $10,000
